Abstract
742,714. Mixing appliances. FORDATH ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Dec. 17, 1953 [Dec. 17, 1952], No. 31968/52. Class 86. A mixing apparatus comprises a cylindrical pan 1 the wall of which is provided on the inside face thereof, with inwardly projecting ribs 23 extending substantially vertically, there being mounted for rotation in the pan, one or more mixing blades 5, 7, the outer end of at least one blade being spring-loaded so as to urge the end towards the wall of the pan. One form of spring-loaded outer end consists of a plate 9 pivoted to the blade 5 at 11 and urged outwardly by springs 13. An alternative form of spring- loaded outer end consists of a roller 15 on an arm 17 pivoted at 19 to the blade 7 and influenced by a leaf spring 21 which causes the roller 15 to be pressed against the inside face of the wall. Gaps 25, Fig. 2, are formed in the ribs 23 and the spring-loaded ends of the blades are provided with projections adapted to engage in the gaps 25. One blade only may be provided having either of the two forms of spring-loaded outer ends, and the other blades, if any, may be as described in Specification 531,536. Alternatively two or more blades may be provided with the same form of spring-loaded outer end.
