Abstract

738,206. Pivots. GILL, G. R., and WHITELEY, W. April 23, 1954 [April 28, 1953], No. 11699/53. Class 65(2). The blades 10, 11 of shears or the like are provided adjacent to the pivotal connection with hollow bosses 12, 13 held with their annular bearing faces in engagement by adjustable pivotal means comprising an internally-threaded secondary boss 14 on one blade 11 rotatable in the boss of the other blade and a screw 16 in the latter blade engaging the boss 14 to a depth determined by an adjustable screw-threaded stop 17. The screw 16 adjusts the pressure between the blades, and preferably bears on a spring washer 19 in a recess in the blade 10 ; after proper adjustment, the stop screw 17 is fixed by filling the bore below it with, for example, solder 23.
