741,887. Reservoir pens. AUSCHER, D. Y. May 13, 1953 [May 27, 1952], No. 13446/53. Class 146(3) A device for feeding ink to the Writing member of a pen comprises in combination with thai member two ducts one withir the other, the inner duct being freely movable within the outer to control the flow of ink, each duct opening at one end into an ink container, while its other end lies adjacent the tip of the writing member. As shown, a drawing pen comprises a shank 1 forming a container 2 having two ducts 13 and 14. The duct 13 is frictionally slidable within a sleeve 12, such that its outer end 15 may be adjusted relatively to two blades 5 and 6. The duct 14 is slidable within the duct 13 and carries a sleeve 17 which limits the forward movement of the duct 14 by engagement with the rear end of the duct 13. A weight 19 is free within the container, such that during operation the weight 19 engages the rear end of the duct 14 to project the duct 14 towards the tips 16 of the blades 5 and 6. Ink flows from the container 2 through the duct 14 during writing, while air flows to the container through the duct 13. The distance apart of the blades 5 and 6 is adjustable by a screw 10 co-operating with a member 7 encircling the blades, such that the width of a line to be drawn can be varied. In a modification, the ducts supply a split nib, the inner duct being curved towards the nib, such that its end is adjacent the nib hole. In a further modification, the inner duct is of U-section, the outer duct being of yielding material and contacting the nib.
