Abstract
741,731. Stapling. KINGSBURY COMPONENTS, Ltd., and KINGSBURY, H. E. R. Jan. 6, 1954 [Oct. 6, 1952], No. 25033/52. Class 89 (3). In a stapling apparatus in which a hand or other stapling machine 5 is operated by the core 13 of a solenoid 14, the solenoid and the base 6 on which the anvil 29 is supported are mounted for relative movement against a resilient opposing force to allow continued movement of the core 13 after the stapling operation is completed so as to open a switch 18 in the solenoid circuit. As shown, a hand stapler 5 is mounted on a resilient platform 6 supported at its front end by a spring 17, and the switch 18 is closed when work is inserted in the device through resiliently mounted arms 28 carrying a ball 33 which is movable to allow the switch to be opened before the platform 6 is returned to its raised position. In a modification, the platform is rigid and the solenoid is carried by a spring-pressed pivoted lever. The Provisional Specification describes a construction which is further modified in detail.
