Abstract

702,389. Stapling. BRITISH BREHMER, Ltd. July 17, 1951 [July 26, 1950], No. 18657/50. Class 89(3) A stapling machine in the form of a pistol is provided with a spring-actuated driver which is operated by a trigger mechanism. In one construction, Fig. 1, the driver 41 is coupled by links 36, 33 with a spring-pressed piston 27 slidable in a housing 25 and operated by a trigger lever 17 through a spring-pressed pivoted latch 22 which is tripped by an adjustable stop 78. The machine is provided with a turret magazine 47 which can be rotated by a knob 53 and is held in adjusted position by a spring-pressed pivoted catch 54. A single staple pusher 68 controlled by springs 72 is provided for the magazine. An anvil 90, Fig. 5, may be secured to the machine by pins 84 engaging open slots 85 in lugs 81, 82, 83 on the anvil support 80. The anvil is carried by a rod 88, 89 which is operable against a spring 92 by a hand lever 93. In another construction, Fig. 6, the driver, 102 is centrally arranged between two magazines 104, 105 provided with pushers 107. The lower pusher 107 which is controlled by a weaker spring 108 than the upper one is held out of action by a suitable pin until the upper magazine 104 is exhausted. The anvil 115 is carried by a spring-pressed lever 114 carried by a bar 112 secured by a wing-nut 113.
