Abstract

739,579. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI & C1E. July 5, 1954 [July 3, 1953], No. 19629/54. Class 35. To adjust the cooling of a turbo-rotor with a view to restoring dynamic balance the size of a cooling passage near the end of the rotor is adjusted by a member forming part of the rotor surface. As shown, 8 and 10 are wedges disposed in parts near the rotor end of an axial duct formed in a rotor tooth and the size of the gap 12 and hence the amount of coolant that can flow therethrough is adjustable by a member 11 slidable in grooves of said duct. The coolant enters under the rotor end windings and some of it flows towards the rotor centre, beyond wedge 8.
