Abstract
738,422. Hand-actuating devices for switches; actuation of switches. BULGIN & CO., Ltd., A. F. April 7, 1954 [April 20, 1953; June 18, 1953], Nos. 10794/53 and 16890/53. Class 38 (5). A switch having a plunger or push-button is operated by a lever having a number of pivotpoints therefor arranged in a pair of parallel brackets fixed to the switch casing, so that the operating characteristics may be varied. In one arrangement, Fig. 1, lugs 8 formed on the lever 6 are engaged in pivot holes 9 formed in the two arms of a U-shaped bracket 10 secured to the switch 1. Two switches may be mounted side-by-side, Fig. 3, each with one, 17, of the pair of brackets and a single lever 19 acts on the two plungers 5. The switches may be operated simultaneously, or successively by provision of a flange 20. The switch may be sandwiched between two brackets (Figs. 4, 5, not shown), with the pivot holes formed in indented parts thereof, and a number of such switches may be mounted together for operation by cams on a machine-driven shaft (Fig. 8, not shown). Several levers 41 may be mounted on a single pivot 40, Fig. 6, and co-operate with cams 42 on a shaft 43. The pivot 40 may be arranged in any of holes 39 in end plate 37, 38, one of which has an arcuate slot co-operating with a pin on one cam so as to limit the degree of rotation.
