Abstract
737,856. Cooling conductors of transformers and dynamo-electric machines. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 23, 1953 [Dec. 24, 1952], No. 35797/53. Classes 35 and 38 (2). A conductor comprises a flattened tube or a bar bent to bring its longest edges together, the sides having oblique slots and those on one side being crossed relatively to those on the other side, and the two sides are spaced to provide an axial cooling channel in at least the upper part of the conductor. The slots in the bars may occur only in the upper (radially outer) parts of the bars and be filled with insulating material to prevent loss of coolant which may be a liquid such as oil, air, or hydrogen under 4-7 atmospheres pressure. The narrow edges of the bars may also be slotted, and the bars may be of copper or aluminium. As shown, a bar slotted as shown in Fig. 4 may be bent about a mandrel 7, Fig. 5, along a line 6 and have the free ends joined at 10.
