Abstract
736,543. Reciprocating motors. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. March 27, 1953 [May 15, 1952], No. 8529/53. Class 35. [Also in Group XXXVIII] A polarized electromagnet used for example to operate a bell comprises a permanent magnet 3 connecting two ends 14 of a pair of similar iron stampings 1, 2, a T-shaped armature 8 pivoted near the other extreme ends of these stampings, and a coil carrier surrounding the vertical leg of the armature 8. The free end of the armature vertical leg terminates adjacent two end parts 4, 5 of the stampings 1, 2. When the coil 9 is fed with A.C. the armature 8, together with its axle 12 oscillates about the axis of the latter, these oscillations being dependent upon the resulting interaction of the fluxes of the permanent magnet and of the A.C. and upon the closing of the magnetic paths due to the co-operation of the four free ends of the armature 8 and the four pole-pieces 4, 5, 6, 7 of the stampings 1, 2. Fig. 7 shows the complete assembly of the device for use as an electric bell wherein the armature horizontal part is provided with anti-sticking members 25 at its extreme ends.
