Abstract
736,498. Roller weighting arrangements. HARBECK, M., STEFFEN, H., HARBECK, M., and STEFFEN, E., [trading as HEIDENREICH & HARBECK]. April 22, 1952 [April 27, 1951], No. 10128/52. Class 120(2). In a jute spinning frame the pressure rollers are mounted in pairs in a readily removable manner and are urged towards their associated driving roller by a floating lever which bears at one end upon the shaft common to each pair, the other end of the floating lever being abutted by a spring, a lever-operated cam being provided to urge the floating lever from an inoperative position to a position where pressure caused by the depression of the spring is exerted upon the roller shaft. A pair of pressure rollers 21 co-operate with a driving roller 30, Fig. 1, their common shatt 19 being mounted upon a support 24 and located by a groove 22. The rollers rotate upon roller bearings 20 provided at each end of the shaft 19. The support 24 is an extension of a bracket 3 bolted to the machine frame, in which are provided coaxial holes 7 and 8 separated by a shoulder 10 in which a bolt 12 is a sliding fit. A floating lever 15 is pivoted at 16 to the bolt 12. Between a shoulder portion 14 which slides within the hole 7 and the shoulder 10 is mounted a helical spring 13. The lever 15 is provided with a screw 17 which contacts the shaft 19 within the recess 22. A lever 26 pivoted at 25 has a cam surface 27 which co-operates with the lever 15 to move it from an inoperative position to an operative position as shown. Variation of the pressure in the operative position may be obtained by adjustment of the screw 17. In a modification, Fig. 3, a pair of pressure supply rollers 2 and their associated driving supply roller 30 are similarly mounted and a pair of pressure delivery rollers 32 and their associated driving delivery roller 31 are provided, the common shaft of the former being mounted at 37 in a lever 36 pivoted at 35. A lever 15 is pivoted at 16 to a bolt 11 which slides within a hole 41 in lever 36 and which is surrounded by a helical spring 13. The lever 15 bears upon the shaft 19 of the pressure supply rollers through an adjustable screw 17 and pressure between both pairs of delivery and supply rollers and their associated driving rollers is induced by rotating a lever 26 pivoted at 25 and provided with a cam surface 27 which contacts the lever 15, the levers being in the operative position as shown. A condenser 40 may be located between the two sets of rollers.
