735,837. Watches. POLO, L. Oct. 15, 1953 [Oct. 15, 1952], No. 28541/53. Class 139. In keyless winding mechanism the winding crown is normally screwed to a part of the case and only upon unscrewing is it connected to the winding stem. The back 2 of the watch case is screwed to the combined bezel and caseband 1 and the glass 6 is retained by a ring 4 also screwed to the bezel, suitable packings 3, 5 being provided. The movement 7 is mounted below the dial 9 in a ring 8 resiliently supported by a rubber ring 10. The winding crown 13 is normally screwed at 15 to a pendant member 14 and has a tubular part 12 extending into the casing. A socket 16 having crown teeth 17 is screwed to the inner end of the tube 12 and the winding stem 11 projects from the movement 7 and passes through the socket 16. A member 18 having crown teeth 19 is secured to the outer end of the stem 11. A spring 20 surrounds the stem 11 and urges the socket 16 and the crown upwardly so that when the crown 13 is unscrewed from the part 14 the teeth 19 engage the teeth 17 under the pressure of the spring 20 and, when completely unscrewed, the crown is thereby coupled to the winding stem to allow hand setting or winding of the mainspring. The winding stem 11 and the member 18 may move laterally within the socket 16 and tube 12 respectively upon movement of ring 8 and the watch movement 7.
