Abstract

734,884. Endless conveyers. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES), Ltd., J. June 2, 1954 [April 17, 1953], No. 10547/53. Class 78 (1). Workpiece carriers b are conveyed along a guideway a by an endless chain c provided with members i which frictionally engage the underside of the carriers. At successive work positions, means (not shown) are provided for automatically arresting the carriers and securing them to the guideway, the chain continuing in operation. Each member i consists of a bent metal plate with a rubber block j bonded to the plate and to a plate k secured to the chain. The chain is provided with rollers d which engage between fixed guides e, and with supports f carrying rollers g riding along a guide h. The member i may be pivotally attached to the chain and loaded by a spring. The chain may be replaced by an endless belt.
