Abstract

734,244. Pipe couplings. ANDERSEN, A. F. H. July 9, 1953, No. 19014/53. Class 99 (1). A quick-release coupling comprises a hooked arm 8, pivoted at 3 on the pipe 2, and adapted to ride over a bolt 7 extending between the lugs 15 of a clamp ring 6 secured on the pipe 5 and engage the bolt with its hooked portion when the pipe 5 is moved into the socket 1 of pipe 2. One or both of the lugs has an inclined surface 16, Fig. 3, up which the arm 8 rides on relative rotation of the pipes so as to free its hooked portion from the bolt, permitting axial withdrawal of the pipe 5. Alternatively or additionally one or both sides of the hooked end of the arm may have inclined camming surfaces adapted to engage the lugs.
