Abstract
733,701. Bobbins; winding transfer tails. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON COMBE BARBOUR, Ltd. Nov. 9, 1953 [Sept. 16, 1952], No. 23204/52. Drawings to Specification. Classes 120(2) and 120(3). Prior to the commencement of the filling of a bobbin with yarn, a " tag-end " is formed by wrapping a piece of yarn around one or more grooves or channels in the periphery of the base of the bobbin, then around pins or projections on a bobbin support which may also be the means whereby the support is driven by the bobbin, and under a yarn retaining device e.g., a notched screw-head. The groove(s) may extend between opposing faces of the bobbin flange and be inclined e.g. helical or helicoidal, partially or completely encircling the base for one or more turns, and have flared entrances for the yarn. A clearance between the bobbin base and the support is provided, as by the use of a spacing collar, to permit entry of the yarn and /or the yarn is directed over the bobbin base by a moveable guide.
