Abstract
731,692. Ovens. EVERING- TON, F. W. Sept. 24, 1953 [Sept. 25, 1952; Oct. 16, 1952], Nos. 24030/52 and 25929/52. Class 126. In a cooking oven or like culinary appliance having a vertically mounted door giving access to the oven interior, a lining plate is attached to the inside of the door and an oven tray is provided having a back bar, the means of attachment of the tray being by keyhole-shaped slots in the back bar for engagement with one or other of vertically spaced pairs of studs carried by the plate. As shown (Fig. 1) the door D of an oven O provided with the usual shelves within its interior T carries an auxiliary shelf A, this shelf being attached to the door in one of three alternative positions by the interengagement of keyhole slots 12 and studs 11. In a modification (Fig. 2) the shelf A is attached by means of keyholes 12 and studs 11 to a plate 20 which is slidably mounted on the inner side of the door D. This mounting is effected by securing to the door a U-shaped run-way 15 and a rail 16 the plate 20 being so shaped along its upper edge that it may carry rollers which run within the groove of the run-way 15. A bracket 22 secured to the plate at its lower edge engages the rail 16. By the provision of a bar 25 pivotally engaging the oven at 26 and the plate at 27, the shelf A is made to slide into a position centrally of the oven side walls as the door is closed. A corner of the shelf may be bevelled as at 5 so as to prevent fouling of the side of the oven when the door opens and closes. In a modified construction two brackets such as 22 are fitted. To remove the plate 20 shown in Fig. 2, by sliding it off the open end of the run-way 15, the link 25 may be fastened to the plate by means of a quick-release pin. An alternative method of plate removal is to provide cut-aways in the plate top and bottom such that in a particular plate position with the link disconnected the cut-aways and rollers and bracket or brackets coincide such that the plate may be removed by pulling forward.
