Abstract

An aqueous textile size contains in solution starch or acid modified starch, e.g. from 5 to 15 per cent by weight, and a minor proportion, e.g. from 0.05 to 2.0 per cent, of a polyoxypropylene ether-ester of a fatty acid having from 11 to 21 carbon atoms in the acyl group. The size may contain 7 per cent of starch and 0.84 per cent of the (8) polyoxypropylene ether-ester of stearic acid; 5 per cent starch and 1 per cent of the (10) polyoxypropylene ether-ester of oleic acid; 5 per cent starch and 0.5 per cent of the (10) polyoxypropylene ether-ester of lauric acid. The numerals in brackets indicate the average number of oxypropylene groups per molecule of acid. Specifications 380,431, [Group IV], and 699,188 are referred to.
