Abstract

730,627. Stud and socket fasteners. TINNERMAN PRODUCTS, Inc. Dec. 2, 1953 [June 8, 1953], No. 33496/53. Class 44. A self-attached sheet metal socket member for a rotary stud 10 having a lateral lug or lugs 15 has a return bend defining a pair of spaced body portions 21 and 40 adapted to receive therebetween a supporting plate B apertured at 5, one of the body portions carrying a spring arm 26 which has a stud passage 30 and slots 31 to pass the lugs 15, the marginal portions of the passage 30 being formed with rising cam surfaces 33 to engage the lugs 15 and terminating in grooves 35 to hold them in a secure position. The free end 25 of spring arm 26 co-operates with the body portion 40 to engage the supporting part B. Body portion 40 has an opening in line with the stud passage 30 and a tapered detent 43 on its periphery engages with the aperture 5 to locate the socket. The resilient construction allows attachment of the socket to supporting plates of different thicknesses. Specification 657,161 is referred to.
