Abstract

729,738. Creels for filamentary material. HENLEY'S TELEGRAPH WORKS CO., Ltd., W. T., and GRIFFITHS, F. T. April 10, 1952 [April 11, 1951], No. 8444/51. Class 120(2). Apparatus for delivering a long length of filamentary material 42 from a series of coils thereof joined end to end, includes a series of drum-like containers 15 for the coils and each formed with an aperture 18 at opposite ends 16, 17 through which the material can pass, supporting means, e.g. a pair of rails 10, for the containers on which they may be readily placed in coaxial alignment, and a let off guide 14 located at one end of the supporting means. The containers 15 are preferably formed with lugs 24, 25, by which they are supported and a hinged upper half 20 so that each container may be removed from the support and the material 42 passing therethrough, when the container in question is exhausted. A hinged door 26 may be provided in the end wall of each container and a guiding slot 28 for the outer end of the material to reach the aperture 18. The end of material 50 (Fig. 1, right hand) may alternatively be led through the bank of containers 15 whose coil ends have been prej oined.
