Abstract
Ore pellets are formed mechanically from finely divided ore material in which sodium hydroxide and/or sodium carbonate is dispersed in the presence of water prior to forming. The hydroxide or carbonate may be added in the form of a solution to substantially dry ore, for example, while it is being tumbled. The ore may be an iron ore such as ground haematite to which is added 8-12.5 per cent by weight of sodium carbonate solution.
