Abstract
726,944. Double-twist spindle. MORAWEK, W. July 22, 1952 [July 28, 1951; May 31, 1952], No. 18554/52. Class 120 (2). A textile double-twist spindle having a rotating stem and a rotating cap for guiding the thread after passing through the thread outlet opening in the stem is characterised in that the rotating cap at its lower part has a radially tapering peripheral gripping groove adapted to grip the thread by a wedging action thereon. In the arrangement shown the cap 6 has secured to it a notched disc 7 so as to form a tapering groove there-between. Thread leaving the stem 13 through the opening 10 is wrapped round the grooved boss 11 to the desired extent and introduced into one of the notches 8<SP>1</SP> to 8<SP>6</SP>. On rotation of the spindle the thread tends to accumulate in the gripping groove 8, the degree of accumulation depending on the running-off conditions, before forming the normal thread balloon. In another embodiment the bottom of the cap is provided with a detachable ring with an opposing ring pressed resiliently there-against. The gripping groove 8 may extend around the entire circumference of the cap or may be broken up into a number of sectors or reduced to a single sector. In further embodiments the rings or discs forming the groove 8 are provided with bulges or corrugations which may be arranged either so that their highest points are in contact or so that the bulges of one part engage in the gap between bulges of the other part, thus giving a discontinuous gripping effect.
