Abstract
722,063. Feeding sheets. FABER & SCHLEICHER AKT.-GES. July 11, 1952 [Aug. 22, 1951], No. 17545/52. Class 100 (1). Sheet-registering devices.-In a sheet-aligning mechanism for sheet-handling machines, particularly printing machines, uncovered preliminary stops 3 are employed for presenting the sheets below cover members associated with front stops 12 of the device, the preliminary stops 3 being movable at a diminishing speed in the feed direction so as to engage the sheets after they have advanced a short distance below the cover members which are independent of the preliminary stops. The sheets 2 are fed over a table 1 so as to engage the stops 3 which are mounted on a slide 5 reciprocated by means of a cam 11, cam follower 10, lever 8 pivoted at 9 and a link 7. The stops 3 after engaging a sheet 2 slow down the sheet, which is held by control nozzles 17 on the stops 3 until it is moved into contact with the abutment face of the front stop 12. The preliminary stops 3 continue their travel at an increased speed so that the sheet 2, which has been seized by grippers on the printing or other machine, can be moved past the front stop 12. The front stop 12 is moved in known manner in the sequence of feed into the working position and out of the path of the outgoing sheet by means of a cam 13, cam lever 14, rod 15 and lever 16.
