Abstract
721,693. Electric air heaters. ORMOND ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and DAVIS, S. P. March 13, 1953 [March 14, 1952]. No. 6697/S2. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group VI]. In a pistol grip hair drier the armature and field system are independently mounted in the casing. A synthetic resin casing 10, preferably in two halves 18, 19, has two bosses 18a, 18b to which the field magnets 20 are secured. The armature is carried in oilless bearings of which one is located in a boss 18c while the other is carried in a synthetic resin bridge 22 extending between the two screws 21 and carrying the motor brushes 26. The armature is retained by a plate 28 and the bearings are made self-aligning by the use of spherical housings. The fan 12 is mounted on the protruding end of the spindle adjacent to a grill 19a. The heating element 14 is mounted on a former 41 which is held adjacent to the outlet by moulded lugs 34<SP>1</SP>, 35 and the element is controlled by a switch separate from the motor switch.
