Abstract
721,279. Friction clutches. SIEMAG VERTRIEBSGES. Oct. 18, 1951 [Nov. 6, 1950]. No. 24300/51. Class 80 (2). A clutch with an overload disengagement device, comprising a plurality of laminae in which the relative slip of the driving and driven clutch halves influences, through a driven element connected with one of the halves, a disengaging element arrahged in the other half in such a way that the said disengaging element disengages the clutch, is characterized by the driven element being formed as one, 7, of the laminae and in the form of a toothed wheel (or screw threaded wheel) cooperating with the disengaging element. The disengaging element consists of a segmental toothed &c. wheel 5 secured to a spindle 2 in the driving clutch part 1, so that, by its rotation on relative movement between the driving and driven clutch halves, a valve 3 is operated to relieve the hydraulic pressure upon a clutch engaging piston 9. Means are provided for preventing the continued rotation of the wheel 5 after the clutch has disengaged, the clutch being re-engaged by turning a handwheel 4. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the laminae 7 has threaded instead of toothed engagement with the wheel 5. The device may also be applied to electromagnetic clutches.
