Abstract

670,399. Friction clutches. MASSARDIER, J. Feb. 6, 1950 [Dec. 8, 1949], No. 3047/50. Addition to 656,691. Class 80 (ii). Twin presser-plates a, b, which are simultaneously urged apart by oil-pressure applied to their faces a<SP>1</SP> through a shaft-duct, not shown in Fig. 2, to clamp friction disc-groups together for clutching a toothed wheel d to a shaft h, as in the parent Specification, are urged together for clutch disengagement by oil-pressure supplied constantly through a second shaft-duct k to act on presser-plate faces a<SP>2</SP> of smaller area than those a' of the engaging pressure faces. Figs. 4-10 (not shown) show two clutches as above on a common shaft and controlled by a threeway selector-valve.
