Abstract

720,952. Hair curlers. GAYLORD PRODUCTS, Inc. May 4, 1953, No. 12355/53. Class 131. A hair curler, on which hair is wound and subjected to a cold permanent wave process through to the final drying stage, includes a spool of one-piece skeletal construction having a number of U-shaped ribs with their medial portions radially disposed and circumferentially spaced about the outer periphery of a ring-shaped hub to define an annular groove to receive a wound tress of hair. Ribs 5, connected together in pairs a, b, c, d at their outer ends, are joined to a central hub 4 and are interconnected in pairs by braces 9 to provide a skeletal spool 2 allowing free passage of liquid through the hair wound in the annular groove 6 and retained by a locking cap 3 having legs 14 interconnected by arms 12 and provided with scalp-contacting feet 17 engaging beneath the braces 9.
