Abstract
720,618. Valves. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd. June 16, 1953, [June 16, 1952], No. 15113/52. Class 135. A fluid metering device having independently adjustable means for establishing the limits of movement of a valve closure member 1 comprises a lever 16 pivoted at 18 and having a bifurcated end 19 engaging the lower side of a collar 13 to raise the closure member against a loading spring 12 and an arm 17 for engagement by a rotatable snail cam 20 to operate the lever. To determine the limit of opening of the valve the cam is axially adjustable along a hollow actuating spindle by a screw 27 opposed by a spring 28. The limit for the closed position is set by an adjustable abutment screw 30 which coacts with a spring arm 29 on the lever 16. To close the valve completely a recess 34 in the cam is moved into engagement with the arm 17 to move the lever 16 against the resistance of the spring arm 29. The valve member 1 consists of a tubular element with a metering slot 6 coacting with a fixed sleeve 7 and having an enlargement 9 to coact with a seat 8 in the fully closed position.
