Abstract

720,347. Drying apparatus. HOSIER, A. J. Oct. 23, 1953 [Sept. 22, 1952], No. 23762/52. Class 34 (2). Apparatus for drying grain &c. has an inclined perforated tray 1 over which the grain fed from a hopper 6 is moved by an endless conveyer having chains 2 with spreader bars 5 and hot air is blown upwardly through the grain to dry it and then cold air is blown downwardly to cool the grain. The underside of the tray 1 is enclosed by a channel section container having a bottom 10 and sides 11 and the cooling section is enclosed by a housing 14 leading into a duct 15 along which the cold air is drawn by a fan in casing 17. The air passes through a chamber 18 where it is heated by an oil fired furnace 20. A connection 21 allows recirculation and auxiliary air is supplied by a compressor 22.
