Abstract

1,084,905. Drying tea. MARSHALLS TEA MACHINERY CO. Ltd. July 20, 1964 [July 19, l963] No. 28592/till. Heading F4G. Tea is dried on a horizontal or inclined endless conveyer 1 of wire mesh in a first drying compartment 23 and an upstream portion of an intermediate compartment 22 by being traversed twice by a current air heated by passage through a heater 24 in the compartment 22, which air flow is introduced into a downstream cooling compartment 21 from atmosphere through an inlet 13 for traversing the dried tea twice before being discharged in a cooled state. The air is drawn under the influence of a suction fan 15 in sinuous path through the compartments and conveyer by partitions 19 and 20 which divide a downwardly open hood 12 arranged over the conveyer into the compartments 23, 22, 21. In a modification, separate supplies of heated and cooler air may be supplied by separate hoods and extractor fans.
