Abstract

720,311. Thrust bearings. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. Feb. 29, 1952 [March 16, 1951], No. 5391/52. Class 12 (1). A thrust bearing 3 of a pillar crane is positioned between the top of the pillar 1 and the turning part 2. The bearing is of a type which may take up vertical loads due to the crane weight and its load, and horizontal forces produced by the moment of the load and counterweight. In order that the line of action 4 of the resultant force shall remain within the circle of the bearing rollers the axial loading of the bearing is increased by a compression spring 7 supported against an adjustable nut 9 and bearing on a ball bearing 10 which is secured to the part 2 supported by the bearing 3. Instead of a spring, other compression means may be employed.
