971,409. Rolling. SOC. NOUVELLE SPIDEM. Nov. 28, 1962 [Dec. 1, 1961], No. 44949/62. Heading B3M. A device for regulating the pass in a rolling mill comprises means interposed between the upper and lower chocks of supporting rolls, the chocks being urged towards each other by a prestressing jack which exerts a pressure greater than the maximum rolling force. The mill may have a frame 1 or merely have chocks 2 and 3 held by prestressed tie-rods, Fig. 4, the pass adjustment being either by way of screws 4, passing through the upper chocks to act on the lower chocks, or by hydraulic cylinders 9 and 9<SP>1</SP>. The prestressing jack 7, which may be situated at the top of the mill if desired, is similar in all cases.
