Abstract
719,942. Typewriters. JARDINE, Ltd., J., and HARDY, F. S. Feb. 10, 1953 [Nov. 17, 1951], No. 27013/51. Class 100 (4). Locking devices; paper carriages.-A typewriter has disposed under the key-levers B a line lock frame A which is moved by a key or knob T to lock all the keys against operation; the movement of the knob T also releases a catch L on the carriage runway M which moves into engagement with a rack or worm O on the carriage. The catch L is loosely mounted on screws having springs R. These move the catch L into engagement with the worm O when a plunger K is lowered by the rocking of a crank J, H operated by a link G from the knob T. The knob T is held in either of its positions by a detent spring engaging depressions in a disc associated with the knob or by a pin G<SP>2</SP> held in engagement with either end of an arcuate slot G<SP>1</SP>. Line-locking devices.-The line lock frame A may also be connected to the margin stop of the machine.
