Abstract

716,179. Loom shuttles. KEAY, Ltd., T. C. Sept. 5, 1951 [Oct. 23, 1950], No. 25727/50. Class 142(2) A shuttle having a threading device, which may be as described in Specification 670,713, has a slotted weft guide plate 11 positioned between the threading device 3 and the cop receiving cavity 2, and a tuft of bristles 13 that prevents the weft from leaving a slot 12 in the plate 11. The threading device may comprise a plate having an eye 4 and a slot 5 mounted on a spigot passing through a rubber sleeve in a hole in the shuttle and may be retained by a pin. Alternatively, flanges on the sleeve may retain the spigot and sleeve in the shuttle. Tufts of bristles 14, projecting at different levels into cavity 2 tension the weft. Other tufts 15 extending across the mouth of the shuttle prevent ballooning. Further tufts 16, inclined towards the bottom of the cavity 2,. retain the cop. The tufts 16 increase in length towards the end of the cavity remote from the shuttle eye.
