Abstract

789,972. Threading loom shuttles. BENNETT & SONS (TEXTILES), Ltd., A., and PILTEX, Ltd. May 3, 1954 [April 29, 1953; Feb. 1, 1954], Nos. 11799/53 and 2928/54. Class 142(2) A shuttle for threading by hand has a vertical slot 7 extending from the bobbin recess to a hole 9 in the top of the shuttle and a curved slot 8 which is so inclined that it extends from the upper to one side surface of the shuttle. The weft is laid in the slots 7, 8 and drawn to lie across a recess 17 in the shuttle side where it is grasped by the operator and pulled into two holes 3, 5 joining the bobbin recess and the weft eye. Pegs may be provided on each side of the weft eye to prevent wear. The eye is formed by a metal tube with an eye portion at one end, inserted in a hole extending from the underside of the shuttle.
