Abstract
712,016. Moulding processes; mould materials. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. July 29, 1952 [Sept. 6, 1951], No. 19187/52. Class 83 (1) In the "lostwax" process, the wax model is first coated by soaking in a paste containing a fine grain refractory and 25-50 per cent by weight of a refractory with coarse grains at least as large as those of the mass of the mould filler, and preferably 5-10 times as large. In an example the coating comprises 2.2 Kg. of siliceous sand, average grain diameter 20 microns ; 750 g. of siliceous sand, average grain diameter 0.5-1 mm. and an aqueous binder comprising sodium silicate, a sulphonated wetting agent, bornyl acetate, and water.
