Abstract

711,991. Straightening. SIEGERIST, W. Feb. 11, 1952, No. 3589/52. Class 83 (4) Apparatus for straightening wire comprises a drum 8 rotated by a pulley 20 bored to receive yokes 11 carrying straightening dies 19 mounted in antifriction bearings 18. The eccentricity of the dies is adjusted by screws 16 on the yokes. The dies are apertured to suit the section of the wire under treatment and the apertures are flared to a diameter at least equal to the die eccentricity. The wire is fed by feed rolls to and from the drum and is sheared by reciprocating shears. A key 25 on a spigot 13 prevents the yoke rotating.
