696,324. Drawing wire. SYNCRO MACHINE CO. June 5,1951 [Jan. 9,1951], No. 13332/51. Class 83 (iv). A wire drawing apparatus comprises a coiler block 40 about which wire is coiled, a support 25 having a circumferential recess for maintaining a pool of cooling liquid 30. a conduit 50, 52, feeding cooling liquid through said support up into the block, and an annular conduit formed between baffle means 31 and the block, guiding said cooling liquid over the inner surface of the block as a thin film. Grooves are formed in the skirt 32 of the baffle unit 31, preferably as helical elements inclined in the direction of rotation of the shaft 21, to assist the rapid flow of liquid. Lubricant is fed to bearings 26 by conduits 80, 81, leaving by conduit 82.
