708,315. Manufacture of reflectors. MANUFACTURE GENERALE DE MIROITERIE. Feb. 18, 1952 [Feb. 23, 1951; Jan. 7, 1952], No. 4180/52. Class 97(1) To protect the silvering of a mirror it is coated with a layer of thermoplastic material of the same chemical type as polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate, polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, polyethylene, mixed with a plasticizer, the thermoplastic material being heated to render it plastic either during or after its application to the mirror. A pigment such as titanium dioxide or carbon black may be added. The thermoplastic material may be applied in a hot molten state by a coating machine or spray gun or may be applied in solution the layer being heated after evaporation of the solvent.
