Abstract

A coating composition comprises a solution or dispersion of a film-forming material in which is dispersed granules of an inert organic polymer, the size of the granules being such that they pass through a 22-mesh sieve and are substantially retained by a 300-mesh sieve. Suitable compositions comprise a pigmented aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate containing polyethylene granules, a pigmented organic solution of chlorinated rubber containing polyethylene granules, and a non-aqueous dispersion of plasticized polyvinylchloride containing polyvinyl chloride granules.ALSO:A coating composition for making a textured surface comprises a solution or dispersion of a film-forming material in which is dispersed granules of an inert organic polymer, the size of the granules being such that they pass through a 22 mesh sieve and are substantially retained by a 300 mesh sieve. In examples a chlorinated rubber-primed cement-asbestos sheet is coated with either a pigmented aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate containing polyethylene granules, or a pigmented organic solvent solution of chlorinated rubber containing polyethylene granules, and a steel sheet is coated with a non-aqueous dispersion of plasticized polyvinyl chloride containing polyvinyl chloride granules and stored.
