Abstract

707,730. Bobbins. BAXTER BROS. & CO., Ltd. May 21, 1952 [May 22, 1951], No. 9914/53. Divided out of 707,652. Class 120(3) A bobbin of the kind employed for producing a transfer tail on a yarn package on the bobbin, the lower flange of the bobbin having a lead-in groove in its peripheral surface in which the end of the yarn at the commencement of winding can be located is characterized in that the lower flange a<SP>2</SP> has a portion a<SP>3</SP> of reduced diameter on which the transfer tail is wound and that the lead in groove B has straight, parallel sides and is inclined in the direction of the rotation of the bobbin when the yarn is being wound thereon. The bobbin shown has a metal barrel A and flanges a<SP>1</SP> and a<SP>2</SP> of moulded synthetic resin. The underside of flange a<SP>2</SP> is formed with radial driving slots a<SP>4</SP>. In a second embodiment the lower flange of an all wooden bobbin has the portion of reduced diameter terminating in a peripheral groove. Specification 707,652 is referred to.
