705,292. Moccasins. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO, Ltd. (United Shoe Machinery Corporation). May 26, 1952 [May 26, 1951]. No. 12387/51. Class 17(2) A blank for use in the manufacture of i moccasin shoe has one portion 20 shaped to cover the bottom and sides of the forepart of a foot and a second tongue portion 22 integral therewith to constitute an insole at heel part and shank and separate from the first part by slits on both sides, so that the lower margins of the forepart may be secured to the underside of the insole portion. The outer edges of the wing parts 24, 26 are skived or bevelled near their toeward, ends to receive a plug or toe piece 32 (not shown). A reinforcement may be applied to the heel end portion of the blank when closed. For the attachment of a sole the moccasin is mulled or dipped in water and a last inserted in broken position and then expanded to stretch and shape the upper, and an outer sole is then laid on, the last removed and the sole secured by through-and-through stitches. The moccasin may' be of the Blucher type in which case the sides of the upper at the shank and heel parts are separate parts attached to the sides of the forepart, or the moccasin may be of the welt type.
