704,825. Calculating-apparatus. HIGONET, R. A. E., and MOYROUD, L. M. Feb. 7, 1952, No. 3280/52. Class 106 (1). [Also in Groups XVI and XL (b) Keyboard interlocks. A keyboard for typewriters, type-composing machines, telegraph apparatus, calculating machines and like keyboard operated apparatus has a device to prevent two keys being depressed at the same time and which comprises a number of rockers 2-5 having upper lugs projecting into the path of a key-lever 1 so that one rocker e.g. 2 is turned clockwise and one e.g. 3, is turned counterclockwise, further lugs 9, 13 transmit their displacement to adjacent rockers whereby all rockers to the left of the key-lever rock in one direction and all rockers to the right rock in the other direction. The displacement downwardly of the two lugs say 7, 8 engaged by the key-lever positioned between rockers 2 and 3, causes lugs 7a, 8a to be raised and so prevent the operation of the key-levers which operate between rockers 3, 5 and 4, 2 respectively. Lugs 9, 13 engage below the rockers 5, 4 and these are raised so that lugs 12 and 11 prevent operation of the next key-levers and so on.
