Abstract

704,151. Spray carburetters. FUCHS, A. Oct. 23, 1950,No. 25806/50. Class 7(3) Emulsified fuel formed in a nozzle 8 is led past a substantially drop-shaped member 15 having one end more sharpely tapered than the other and arranged with the more sharply tapered end extending in the flow direction of the mixture, the member 15 being provided with annular grooves 23 and sharp edges facing in the direction of flow of the mixture. The fuel nozzle 8 is surrounded by a cap 21 forming an annular passage 17, through which the emulsifying air enters, connected to an annular chamber 10 from which the emulsifying air flows into the nozzle 8 through orifices 9. The emulsifying fuel is sprayed through orifices 16 beneath the member 15, the sharp edges on which help to break up fuel dropets. The inside of the carburetter mixing chamber may also be provided with grooves 18 which may extend as far as the carburetter outlet.
