Class 6 (3) Relates to machines of the type having a sideprojecting cutter bar supported between the front and rear wheels of a tractor. According to the invention, detachable means connecting the mower and tractor at two longitudinally displaced points comprises at one point an attachment bracket with a longitudinal tubular socket made fast with the tractor (or mower) and a longitudinal pin fast with the mower (or tractor) for ready insertion in the socket. The invention is shown in side view in Fig. 2 applied to the attachment of the longitudinal sleeve 15 enclosing the driving shaft 16 of the reciprocating cutter (not shown). This shaft is driven at the rear from the tractor through belt pulley 17 and at the front carries the usual cutter-driving crank 22 enclosed in a housing 23 either end of which can be inserted in a rubber-bushed socket 28 welded to a bracket 30 bolted to the body of the tractor. At the rear, the sleeve 15 has welded thereto two plates 40 which receive between them a bracket 37 depending from the rear axle casing 39. The detachable rear fastening includes a removable pin 41 retained by a pivotal plate 34 the axis pin 45 of which has fast therewith an eccentric 46 that bears against an adjustable stud 47 on the bracket 37. As shown in Fig. 3, the eccentric retains the plate 44 which can be turned through 180 degrees to unmask the pin 41 for removal.
