Abstract

700,813. Collapsible boxes. DRING, Ltd., J. Nov. 5, 1951 [Dec, 22, 1950], No. 31223/50. Class 18. A collapsible box comprises a base 1, side walls 2, 3, end walls, and a pair of collapsible handle flaps 7, 8 forming partition. Flaps 7, 8 are stapled to the base 1, and a distance piece 18 serving to retain the side walls and the handle flaps in position when the box is erected, is stapled to the side walls 2, 3, and is of U-shape with creases 19, 20 facilitating the collapsing of the side walls on to the base. In the erected condition of the box handle flaps 7, 8 lie against either side of the distance piece 18, hand holes 11, 12 being in register and a tongue 13 on nap 8 engaging in hand hole 11 to retain the flaps in position. The ends of the box are formed by interlocking extensions 5 on the side walls with extensions 4 on the base folding inside extensions 5. Ventilation holes 6 may be provided. A lid may be provided.
