Abstract
700,587. Children's vehicles. ABERDALE CYCLE CO., Ltd., and LEVY, J. Dec. 12, 1951, No. 29153/51. Classes 136(1) and 136(3) [Also in Group XXXII] A tricycle, pedal motor car &c. having laterally spaced wheels may be controlled by an extensible handle 13, Fig. 1, pivoted at one end to the tricycle &c. for angular displacement from a collapsed and stowed, substantially vertical downwardly-depending position adjacent the cycle to an extended position for use. The handle is pivoted to a member 12a hinged at 11 to a bracket 8 secured to the vertical frame member 1 by a bolt 6 securing the saddle pillar 5. A projection 16 on the handle engages a stop 17 on the frame in the stowed position. The handle comprises telescopic members 14, 15, Fig. 3; the former carrying a spring 23 secured between a sleeve 22 and a ring 24 abutting a stop 25, and the latter carrying the handle grip 18a and end stops 26, 27. When the handle is extended, the stop 25 passes through a slot in stop 27 and is rotated to engage a recess 29 where it is held by pressure of the spring. In the stowed position, the spring acts between stops 26 and 25 to hold the projection 16 and stop 17 in engagement. Specification 628,992 is referred to.
