Abstract

901,808. Mobile floodlight apparatus. HARLEY, M. C. Dec. 30, 1960 [Jan. 4, 1960], No. 221/60. Addition to 866,223. Class 75 (4). In a mobile floodlight apparatus, especially for use on airfields and having a projector or projectors mounted on a mast-like member pivoted to a vehicle at or near the opposite end to the projector, the mast is formed in two or more sections hinged together so that the projector may be lowered when not in use and stored in a cavity in the body of the vehicle. In the form shown, the projector o is mounted at the top of a mast formed of sections i, h, k hinged together at m, q, means being provided for locking the sections in extended position. The mast is pivoted at j to a pair of parallel bars f carried by supports a, b and cross-bars c, d, mounted on the side car g of a motor cycle. The mast is held in erected position by a device n on the vehicle which engages the lower end of the section k. When the mast is collapsed, the projector is stowed in a compartment of the side car g. In a modification, the mast is in three sections. The supports a, b may also be pivoted so as to fold down on to the body g.
