Abstract

699,731. Opening paint cans &c. COOKE, N. R. Aug. 9, 1949 [Aug. 12, 1948], No. 21302/48. Class 66 The lid of a paint can &c. is raised by inserting a blade 22 of an opener 16 under its rim 26 and levering it up by depressing the handle 18 of the opener 16 which is pivoted at 34 to a lug 3'2 which is slotted to rest on an ear 12 which receives an end of the handle 14 of the can. The rim 26 rests in a slot between two blades 20 and 22 of the opener thus reducing distortion of the rim and allowing the upper blade 20 to be used to raise the lid higher than is possible with the lower blade. The opener is slotted to allow the lug to slide at the pivot.
