A self-opening die-head a rotated by hand or power and having a yoke d or equivalent means shifted by adjustable abutments p, q on a rod l fixed to the yoke or to a bracket m on the work saddle n has a safety stop-sleeve or bush s interchangeably fitted on the rod l. The length of the sleeve s is such that, if the abutment which opens the die-head has been incorrectly adjusted or insufficiently clamped, the end of the sleeve will engage it and cause it to open the die-head before any part of the saddle can come into contact with the die-head. If the rod is fixed to the saddle n, as shown, and slides through an arm j on the yoke, the sleeve s is fitted between the opening abutment q and the bracket but, if the rod is fixed to the yoke and slides through the bracket m, the abutments lie on each side of the bracket and the safetysleeve is fitted between the yoke and the abutment p. The yoke has rollers or slippers engaging the die-operating sleeve c and a handle t may be fitted vertically or horizontally in a socket h.
