Abstract
699,357. Making foam. AIRFOAM FIRE PROTECTION, Ltd., GIBSON, J. E., and WENT. A. J. Jan. 9. 1952 [Jan. 15, 1951; July 24. 1951]. Nos. 1084/51 and 17461/51. Class 47(ii) [Also in Group XXVI] A sliding-vane pump. (see Group XXVI), draws a mixture of water and foam stabilizer, and air from a tank 12 and forces it upwards through a gauze pack 20. The mixture is supplied at a constant head to a tank inlet 13 and flows over a guide-plate 15 into the pump inlet 9. The gauzes 20, which may vary in mesh size, are spaced from one another. The size of the outlet 18 may be regulated by an "iris-type" valve or shutter. Deflectors, or guides, may be used to distribute the mixture being delivered through the outlet 18. Increase in speed of the rotor increases the proportion of air in the mixture sucked into the pump.
