Abstract

699,121. Paint scrapers. BEDDOW, L. J. April 1, 1952 [April 20, 1951; Sept. 19, 1951], Nos. 9235/51 and 21939/51. Classes 61 (i) and 61 (ii). A scraping tool for removing covering material from walls, ceilings &c. comprises a blade and a roller carried by a receptacle or an open frame which is pivoted to a handle so that the receptacle or frame can turn about an axis disposed between the cutting edge of the blade and the roller. As shown the blade 6 projects through a rectangular opening 5 in the top of the receptacle 1 and is adjustably clamped to a blade holder 8 extending between the end plates 3 of the receptacle. The shouldered ends 8a of the blade holder are detachably mounted in slanting slots 11 in the plates 3. The roller 12, accommodated in a recess formed by' the reentrant wall of the receptacle, is rotatably mounted on cheek parts 3a of the end plates. The cutting edge of the blade and the surface engaging face of the roller are of convex curvature. The handle comprises a forked wire frame attached to a wooden end-handle 16, the limbs 17a of the fork having inturned ends pivoted in bearing holes in the end plates 3. In a modification the receptacle is provided with an outlet aperture covered by a movable closure.
